If you’re wondering how to throw a super fun Sesame Street themed birthday party for kids, you’re in the right place. Our toddler became obsessed with Elmo, Big Bird, and the whole crew right when she turned 1. Admittedly, we facilitated her love of the Street as we really enjoy the show as it’s wholesome, fun, and has catchy songs. (and a paper-towel roll – it worked! IYKYK) Another fun part of deciding to throw a Sesame Street themed birthday party is that you can change the word Sesame to your child’s name… enter Berkeley’s Street.
Anyway, when it was time to think of a theme for our 2 year old’s birthday party, it was an easy decision. Below I will share all of the creative ideas and vendor options that are available depending on where you live, also invitations, party favors, and more!
Invitations
When planning a kids party, the first step for me is always the invitation and I typically head right to Etsy. They have tons of options for a theme like Sesame Street because it’s so popular, and all you have to do is download the template and change the details to your child’s name, and specific date and time. It’s SO incredibly easy and makes you feel like a Pinterest mom in literally 5 clicks. The exact one I used is linked HERE.

Decor
I knew I wanted to do a fun balloon arch for the entrance and a backdrop for the photos. I also knew that I wanted the kids and guests outside for the majority of the party, so the kids would need somewhere to sit. At that point I went with a party planner. She pulled together all of the things I just mentioned. I also wanted to do a fun yard sign for the front of the house so that guests would knew which house to enter. That was an added bonus towards the end of the party prep!

Entertainment
We invited all of Berkeley’s classmates to the party. That is well over 10 toddlers and I knew I needed plenty for them to do! We decided to go with a soft play area, face painter, and pulled out all of our personal favorite toys to put into the backyard. We also did a photo booth. I am glad we did the photo booth, and although it was lowered enough for the kids, it was something I will save for an event with adults only or when the kids are much older.
Overall, the soft play was the biggest hit of the day! The kids were enclosed and everything was safe for their age group. They had to take their shoes off to enter and the vendor setup and broke down everything! It was a BLAST! If you Google “soft play toddler rentals” I’m sure something will come up in your area. It was the most expensive piece of the entire party but it was worth it to not have to chase around all those kids LOL.

Food
We typically go with Chick-Fil-A Nuggets for all of our kid parties because they are generally well-received for all kids that have allergies. With the exception of the peanut oil they are cooked in, most kids (and parents) devour them. The star of the show, however, was this Elmo themed charcuterie board. It was NEXT LEVEL. I sent over the idea to a local baker and she came through. It was such a fun twist to the theme. We decided no cookies because if I’m honest I’ve yet to find fondant cookies that taste great. The cake, however, was delicious and right on with the theme.

Attire
I found the cutest dress from an Instagram shop that I sadly can no longer find to link. Her shoes are from Etsy and you can find the shop HERE. My husband and I wore T-shirts that said “Raised on the Streets” and they were so fun and we’ve totally worn them since! You can find the link to them HERE. My 8 month old at the time wore an adorable onesie with all of the Sesame Street characters on it. You can find the entire set HERE.

Party Favors
The favors were a ton of fun. Amazon really came through with the theme because of how popular Elmo & the crew are. I also found the cutest Etsy shop that makes Rice Krispie treats and snacks with a label that matches your theme. To find the shop, click HERE.
The themed coloring kits are HERE. You can find the themed gift bags HERE.

I hope your party is out of this world amazing! Have a great time!
