Spring is here and if you haven’t noticed we are OUTSIDE! Woohoo! After being at home for a few years now, it’s been refreshing to plan events and get togethers as this is always an extremely busy time of year. As a black woman, it can be a lot of work trying to find a good lipstick combination that is not neutral – especially when you want to brighten your look up a little bit.
With all of the getting ready that happens during the months of April, May and June, I wanted to put together my favorite go-to beauty items. I’m wearing a ton of my makeup favorites in this photo and I like the way it turned out!
Read below to find the best spring makeup for black women.

Foundation
My go to foundation right now is hands down the Nars Soft Matte Long-Lasting Foundation. I am in the shade Macao. I like this foundation because I prefer a matte finish, and I like to get any shine or shimmer from the sun. This foundation lasts all day as well. My one piece of advice would be to try to do your skincare routine before you use it for optimum application.

Concealer
My favorite concealer has been the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer for almost 4 years now. It’s creamy and buildable, and the shade range is extensive. I am in the shade deep. It’s the best. You need it. My mom was recently here and she forgot her foundation, so she used this concealer for her entire face and it looked bomb!

Blush
Who remembers when MAC was one of the only makeup companies that had blush that actually showed up on dark skin?? Am I showing my age here? LOL. I’ve loved MAC blush since I was a teenager. My favorites are Fever and Raizin. They are beautiful shades of pink that brighten up the skin in a youthful way.

Bronzer/Contour
Using a bronzer does not have to be difficult or intimidating. I think it gets a bad rap because of some detailed ways of application, but I use it all of the time and do not take a deep dive into confusing methods. I like using this one from Maybelline.

Brows
The best brow pencil IMO is hands down the Brow Wiz by Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is another product that I have used for a very long time. I like it because the tip is very skinny allowing you to create as think or as thin of a brow as you’d like. The other side has a spoolie that is former to the touch than other spoolies out there.

Lips
I’m here to announce that it is totally possible to do a pouty pink lip if you have darker skin. The key is using the right lip liner. The exact combination that I’m using in the photo below is Plum lipliner by MAC and Whirl lipstick by MAC. You can also use Plum lipliner with Persistence lipstick by MAC. These combos are a great place to start if you have skin my complexion and want to stick your toe into a bright lip!

Be sure to tell me how your spring makeup turns out! Enjoy!
